New City Announced in Marina Bay City, Lombok: Indonesia’s Next Coastal Metropolis Aims to Rival Bali

Marina Bay, Lombok — A groundbreaking new development has been announced for South Lombok, Indonesia: Marina Bay City, a master-planned coastal city that promises to blend modern infrastructure with natural beauty. With white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and direct access to a new superyacht marina and deep-water port, this ambitious project is poised to reshape the future of tourism and urban living in Indonesia.

Recently unveiled on MarinaBayCity.com and other media outlets, the development is a strategic move to decentralize tourism from overcrowded Bali and offer international visitors and residents a new destination just 100 km away — roughly 60 minutes by boat — from the Island of the Gods. With Lombok’s tourism growth accelerating year after year, Marina Bay City is positioned as the crown jewel of the island’s south coast.

The city is being developed in partnership with Kinara a growing Asian real estate investment platform, and Lux Properties, an Australian-backed property developer led by entrepreneur Jamie McIntyre. The project will include residential zones, luxury resorts, a commercial hub, an international medical precinct, and eco-conscious design principles to ensure development remains in harmony with its pristine surroundings.

A key selling point is Marina Bay City’s accessibility. Located just a 50-minute drive from Lombok International Airport, the new city will benefit from the airport’s strategic positioning as Bali’s de facto second international gateway. In addition, a high-speed ferry route is planned to connect Bali directly to Marina Bay City, providing seamless travel for tourists and investors alike.

The Indonesian government has thrown its support behind the initiative, with the President of Indonesia expected to visit the site in the coming months. His endorsement would mark a significant milestone, as Marina Bay City could become one of the first fully master-planned cities in the country, designed with sustainability, international appeal, and long-term growth in mind.

“This is more than just a coastal development,” said Jamie McIntyre. “It’s a new chapter for Indonesia — a city where global citizens can live, invest, and thrive amidst untouched beauty, modern infrastructure, and growing global interest in Lombok.”

Targeted at a global audience, the city is expected to draw interest from Australian, European, Russian, and American buyers, as well as wealthy Indonesians from Jakarta. The combination of world-class amenities, stunning natural surroundings, and strategic logistics could position Marina Bay City as Southeast Asia’s next major lifestyle and investment destination.

With global eyes now turning to South Lombok, and demand rising for alternatives to Bali, Marina Bay City is set to lead a new wave of sustainable tourism, luxury living, and economic opportunity in Indonesia.
