One of Australia’s largest literary events has been cancelled as the organiser struggles to cope with the mass withdrawal of authors and writers opposing a move to drop an anti-Israel critic from its line-up.
In early January, the Adelaide Festival Board decided to exclude Randa Abdel‑Fattah from Adelaide Writers’ Week, saying her presence at the event would be too “culturally insensitive” in the wake of the Bondi terror attack on Dec. 14, 2025, which killed 15 people.
