The Russian sent reconnaissance team. Recon usually wouldn’t take an assault job unless there were opportunities. Apparently some of the border areas were taken by the Russian recon teams because there opponents were not mentally or physically ready.

Regarding Sumy: when I was young we had to do a task in the Swiss army. Walking 50km with 30kg on the back. But we didn’t have to hide from drones all the time.

I don’t think Russia would be willing to return over 14k POWs, as Ukraine can’t offer such numbers in return..

I can see the tactic Russia is carrying out. And it is similar to what happened in Kursk with Ukraine. Little bridge heads to divert the opposition soldiers and then attack where you want to attack. You still have the territory and supply lines you claimed but you have lead the opposition in a merry dance. This only works if you have enough soldiers to cover both areas and if the opposite force has less soldiers. The Russian army is learning like every good army does.

I’ve been watching Dima for more than a year now. I’m starting to get a bit annoyed about how much time he spends explaining things with speculation, repeating old information from previous videos, spending 3 sentences for something you can tell in 1 sentence etc. I watch more and more on 150% or even 175% speed and skipping ahead, waiting for him to get to the point. You might as well make ONE video per day at this point, with 100% new information, instead of two videos with almost 50% old information… Respect for your work, but it would be nice if these videos become a bit shorter, more to the point, more concise.

Why would Russia accept an “all for all” POW swap with Ukraine? What is the logic behind that, when POWs are one of the strongest bargaining chips a country has during war, and Russia has many more Ukrainian prisoners than Ukraine has?

The line of contact is actually really small due to natural geography of Ukraine.
Ukraine best chance at winning is actually to retreat a bit.
You only hold a choking point as the stronger side.

Today, at the economic forum in St. Petersburg, Putin said the City of Sumy was never the goal, and the only reason they advanced to the edge of the city was because of Ukraine was attacking the Russian border in the area.
Russia might just dig in at the edge of the city and focus elsewhere, like finally take what Ukraine says is the critically important city of Kupiansk.
