Surovikin knew that Russian forces would have to fight againts more than a million soldiers, therefore the Russian forces are only sufficient to take the Donbass, Zaporizhia and nothing more. That’s why he insisted that the bridges over Dniper must be destroyed no matter what. Gerasimov on the other hand plays a game of static warfare and enemy attrition, ultimately boring the enemy, his own soldiers and even the flies in the field…

If the AFU withdraw the forces in the Kharkov cauldron, they can establish tougher defensive positions at Velikiy Burluk and make a new Volchansk-type of battle. Yet, they do not do that but instead counterattack within the cauldron itself whilst doing everything in their power to not retreat. From a strategic and analytical point of view, these Ukrainian battlefield tactics do not make any conventional sense. The Krasniy-Liman Vivaldi Operation makes some sense as does the one north of Dobropolye, but this one when they are already trapped within a cauldron makes no sense at all. Unless their objective is to wipe out as many of their own troops as possible.

Ukrainian counter-attacks are a joke, follow the same script they attack Russians fall back drone, bomb and artillery them to death. They have no force projection all they can do is a media stunt hold some valueless ground for a week or two at the cost of thousands of lives. Where are they going go? not to the Russian border that’s for sure what are they going to achieve? Nothing.

There are no counter offences in the Kharkov cauldron. With what? . It’s all media nonsense, just like mos of those counter offences, which technically are offences.
