Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, has referred multiple threats made against her to the U.S. Marshals Service, directly calling out “woke idiots,” including individuals employed by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Dhillon, who has become a lightning rod for left-wing outrage since taking her post at the Department of Justice, revealed the details in a fiery post on X:
“Threats against me are referred to the US Marshals. There have been several tonight. We will tolerate no such threats by woke idiots, including those who work for @GavinNewsom. Govern yourselves accordingly. FAFO.”

The timing of the threats coincides with an alarming accusation made by Izzy Gardon, Director of Communications for Governor Newsom.
Gardon suggested Dhillon was somehow responsible for a devastating house fire that destroyed the beachfront home of South Carolina Judge Diane Goodstein and former State Senator Arnold Goostein on Edisto Island.
The fire hospitalized three family members and is under investigation.
Dhillon had previously blasted Judge Goodstein last month for temporarily blocking South Carolina’s Secretary of State from providing the U.S. Department of Justice with a full copy of the state’s voter database.
Gardon’s reckless insinuation, made shortly after the tragedy, implied that Dhillon’s criticism of Goodstein’s legal actions could have inspired the incident.
Within hours, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jesus Osete, Dhillon’s second-in-command at the Civil Rights Division, slammed the insinuations in a post on X:

At the time of writing, the DOJ has not released further details about the nature or sources of the threats.
