What if speaking your mind became a punishable offence?
That nightmare is closer than you think.
In 2023, the Albanese Government appointed a Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia.
The envoy’s report, “A National Response to Islamophobia“, just landed on Albanese’s desk. And you’ll be horrified to know what’s in it…

We warned you this was coming. CitizenGO recently ran a campaign in response to the NSW State Government’s move to spend $1 million in taxpayer funds to “combat Islamophobia,” the centrepiece of which was a “dob-in an Islamophobe” hotline. Scary stuff, right? But we also said at the time that this was likely to get federal… and, with this report, it has!
The report is not really about discrimination. Instead, it demands sweeping powers that would muzzle every Australian who dares question official narratives.
Picture bureaucrats and Big Tech deleting posts, banning accounts, and fining users for “wrong” opinions.
Imagine MPs forced into speech trainings, punished inside Parliament for honest debate.
The report even proposes a Muslim advisory panel to veto counter-terrorism laws before Parliament sees them.
It calls for commissions, indoctrination programs, and billions in taxpayer funds for glossy propaganda.
The plan includes forcing social platforms to share user data with bureaucrats hunting “hate” speech.
It seeks prison sentences increased for anyone convicted of “Islamophobic” speech crimes.
Even private workplace chats could be monitored under new industrial regulations recommended by the envoy.
These ideas aren’t hypothetical; they’re spelt out in black and white across the report’s 64 pages.
Albanese hasn’t endorsed it yet, but the pressure is fierce. And once government machinery starts moving, pieces of this report could become reality before anyone blinks.
That is why we are launching this urgent campaign.
We must stop Albanese from rubber-stamping censorship, indoctrination, and identity politics.
Australians should never fear punishment for challenging ideas, policies, or religious beliefs.
Free speech is democracy’s heartbeat. Once the government decides which opinions are allowed, citizens become subjects.
Fighting prejudice doesn’t require gagging the nation. Real tolerance grows from open dialogue, not from fines and deleted posts.
Yet the report targets everyday Australians, not violent extremists. Share a meme or ask a hard question, and you could face penalties.
National security laws protect lives and liberties. The report wants to hand them to an identity panel, risking political favour over public safety.
Taxpayers are already stretched. They shouldn’t bankroll the PR campaigns the report wants that will shame Aussies as bigots.
Schools exist to educate children, not police conversations. And, again, that’s what this report wants: schoolyard conversations monitored and reported for “Islamophobia.” Actually, they don’t just want it in the schoolyard but on the internet, in the media, in the workplace, in the parliament, just about everywhere! Quite frankly, creating a crime out of conversation won’t foster harmony, only resentment.
Lose freedom once, and history shows it rarely returns.
Petitions work when they create political cost.
Albanese knows Australians hate censorship, especially when taxpayer dollars fund it. His misinformation bill already bombed. Another free-speech scandal could sink vital swing votes.
Media and Opposition parties will amplify public anger the moment our numbers swell.
The headlines and political arguments are easy: Europe’s failed speech codes created bitterness, black markets of ideas, and more division. We refuse to import that chaos. Nobody wants UK-style hate panels monitoring jokes and sermons. Albanese reads the papers and the polls and he’ll see the reaction once we’re in full swing with this campaign.
Tens of thousands of signatures on our petition will also tell him shelving the report is the safer path.
Here’s the crossroads:
If we win, Australia stays open, fearless, and democratic.
Posts remain online, MPs debate freely, terror laws stay focused on safety, not identity politics. Parents trust schools to teach, not indoctrinate.
If we lose, the slide begins.
First come deleted posts and stinging fines. Next, Parliament becomes a speech-controlled zone with MPs tiptoeing around taboos. Then an unelected panel gains leverage over national security. Schoolkids get re-education sessions, taxpayers foot massive propaganda bills. Freedom, once downgraded to a privilege, never fully recovers.
We can still change course. But only if we act before cabinet meetings lock these ideas into policy. Parliament sits again in weeks, and cabinet briefings are being drafted now.
Silence today means rubber stamps tomorrow. Every signature multiplies the pressure because staffers track numbers hourly. Let’s flood their inboxes before decisions are locked behind closed doors.
Together, we can force sunlight onto this secretive process. Momentum is building across social media, talkback radio, and community groups. But time is brutally short.
In solidarity,
George Christensen and the team at CitizenGO
