Crocs galore in the north and experts warn they are moving south quite rapidly
By Jim O’Toole
KAP member for Hill, Shane Knuth well describes the dodgy Liberals after they refused to debate his Crocodile Control and Conservation bill yesterday
While a teenager just managed to escape a massive croc’s jaws at Cape Tribulation Saturday, here we go again for the second time as the chameleon Liberals are terrified of debating the urgently needed Crocodile Control bill tabled in parliament by Katters Australian Party. Premier Crisafulli is looking just as big as big a dud as the Labor Party although Labor supported the bill being debated yesterday.

The teenager was saved by his mate who grabbed the croc by the tail forcing it to release its grip on the boy’s torso after a death roll then narrowly missed a huge snap himself when the reptile swung around. The boys managed to get up the bank to safety.
The injured lad was taken by rescue chopper to Cairns Base hospital where he is recovering.
Rangers yesterday removed a large croc from Myall Creek in Cape Tribulation which they blamed for the attack but there are so many crocs in the area they would have no idea which one was the culprit. None of the overflowing crocodile farms in the north will take any more crocs forcing the rangers to shoot it which has been the case over the past six months according to the industry.

Chisea, if elected, intends to vote against
crocodile control just as his boss David Crisafulli will do
North Queenslanders are screaming out for salt water crocodiles to be removed from their yards, swimming pools and local creeks but the Liberals canned debate in parliament Tuesday fearing if they voted against the bill they would fare poorly at the upcoming Hinchinbrook by-election.
At least voters know the Liberals and their candidate for the by-election Wayde Chisea, a rugby league match caller, oppose crocodile control in the state leaving residents to look after themselves particularly at Ingham and near Hinchinbrook island where a fisherman was dragged out of his tinnie several years ago.
Crocodiles abound in the electorate especially at Cardwell where anyone who wanders along the beachfront takes a huge risk of croc attack.
Anecdotal evidence Cairns News gets from time to time indicates that North Queenslanders are looking after the croc menace themselves irrespective of the Liberal’s poor response.
Two weeks ago a tourist was about to jump into the pool at Mirage Resort in Port Douglas but a croc popped up baring its teeth and the swimmer thought otherwise.
Earlier this year a parliamentary committee of Brisbane politicians who collectively had never seen a croc in their lives decided after numerous public hearings they would not support KAP’s Crocodile and Conservation bill 2025.
There was one exception with Member for Noosa, Independent Sandy Bolton. While away at the public hearings a fisherman at Noosa found a crocodile at Tewantin in the Noosa River and yesterday it was notable that Ms Bolton, a croc committee member voted to have the bill debated.
There could be a message here for long-suffering northerners and that is to grab a handful of hatchlings which are plentiful at present, and will live under a moist bag for weeks, then drop a few at Surfers Paradise into the Broadwater, David Crisafulli’s electorate.
If you want to continue to be eaten by savage crocs just vote for the LNP at Hinchinbrook by-election knowing that tomato sauce supplies are plentiful in wildlife warrior Woolworths stores.
