Scott Challen, one of the organisers behind Brisbane’s March for Australia, has hailed the weekend’s rallies as a “huge success,” while condemning the violence in Victoria and what he calls “deeply misleading media reporting.”
The Brisbane march drew thousands of supporters and featured Senator Malcolm Roberts, Robbie Katter MP, Bob Katter MHR, and former politicians George Christensen and Gerard Rennick.
“Patriotic Australians took a stand for the future of our country and children. I thank every attendee who came peacefully and the politicians who listened to the people they represent,” Mr Challen said.
He praised Victorian Police Commander Wayne Cheeseman for acknowledging the violence instigated by the extremist counter-protest group, Campaign Against Racism & Fascism.
“Australia is suffering from a failure of leadership at the highest levels of government. Commander Cheeseman had the courage to tell the truth, that radical left-wing agitators, not ordinary Australians, unleashed the violence. These groups have abandoned any moral or political credibility. They don’t represent anti-fascism; they represent disorder and division,” he said.
Mr Challen called for media accountability, urging Communications Minister Anika Wells to investigate major broadcasters.
“Networks including Seven, Nine and the ABC deliberately misrepresented Commander Cheeseman’s words to make it appear that march attendees were violent. The Minister must hold them to account for spreading a false narrative that risks further unrest,” he said.
The March for Australia movement continues to advocate for reform of Australia’s immigration program to ensure sustainable population growth and economic balance. More marches are being planned across Australia.
