Trump banned Sadiq Khan, Islamist mayor of London, from the Royal Banquet
Tensions between former U.S. President Donald Trump and London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan have escalated once again. In recent remarks, Trump confirmed that he personally requested Khan be excluded from the Royal Banquet, one of the United Kingdom’s most symbolic diplomatic events. The former president was blunt: “I didn’t want him there. I never liked him. I asked that he not attend.”
Trump described Khan as one of the worst mayors in the Western world, comparing him to some of the most criticized city leaders in the United States. “If you look at Chicago and see the disaster of crime there, I think London’s mayor is at the same level. He has done a terrible job. Crime in London is through the roof”, Trump stated.
The former president added that under Khan’s leadership, London has sunk into a wave of stabbings, robberies, and unprecedented insecurity. He accused the mayor of failing his people and mishandling immigration policies irresponsibly. “On immigration, he’s a disaster,” Trump said firmly.
The ban on the Islamist mayor is not an isolated incident. Tensions between Trump and Khan date back to Trump’s presidency, when both exchanged sharp criticisms over terrorism, immigration, and security policies. For Trump, Khan has not only been weak on public safety but has also shown constant hostility toward the United States and toward him personally.
Trump emphasized that he feels deep respect for the United Kingdom and, on a personal level, cares about the future of London. He reminded audiences that his mother was born in Scotland and that, as a descendant of that heritage, it pains him to see London’s decline under Khan’s leadership. “When I see him there, doing a terrible job, I feel ashamed. London should be at the top, not dominated by crime and mismanagement”, he said.
Khan’s exclusion from the Royal Banquet sends a powerful message. For Trump, globalist political elites have no place in ceremonies that represent tradition, pride, and the history of a nation like the UK. Many conservatives interpret the move as a stand against uncontrolled multiculturalism and political correctness, which they argue are destroying Western cities.
Mayor Khan has repeatedly attempted to position himself as a strong opponent of Trump, but the decision to exclude him from such a prestigious event shows that his leadership is divisive and increasingly rejected beyond Britain.
