Australia Just Gave Away $215 Billion… Corporate Media Ignores It
By Punter’s Politics
The Australian government just approved Woodside’s gas project extension until 2070, effectively giving them $215 billion worth of gas for free while Aussie punters pay some of the world’s highest energy prices. Corporate media covered it as “activists vs government” drama, completely ignoring that we’re literally handing our wealth to tax-dodging gas cartels who don’t even pay royalties.
Here’s what others had to say:
@anthonyfox5337
I truly hate the Government of Australia ….Both sides.
@lukebrennan5780
ahh! NO royalties. Of course. Of course. Will our costs go up Of course. Of course. Our disgusting politicians.
@randie450
It’s supposed too be the COMMON…….WEALTH of Australia………but they are giving our WEALTH away!
@prestonc7152
The more I find out about how corrupt our country is, the less I feel comfortable living here.
@erazer5685
The level of corruption in Australian politics would leave a South American dictator in awe.
@philstabile173
Keep on calling them out mate, you are making more and more people aware of these traitors every day.
@waynecollins1867
Punter run as independent i will vote for you more people will hear you
@justin-j-obrien
Australians in 2022 were taxed, $266 Billion of their personal income.
If you earn over $190,000, you will pay $54,100 in Tax (only PAYG, GST is extra ), then the government keeps taking 45% of every $ dollar you earn.
Miners, dug up and sold off $253 Billion of your country last year. That’s $252,999,810,000 over $190,000.
The 45% Tax the Miners did NOT pay, is roughly HALF of what EVERYONE ELSE DID PAY!
.. but, anyone that says that the government has stuffed up on tax, miners, housing afforda-never, and say big mistakes have been. I must defend them, and give credit where credit is due. It was pure perfect political policy that got us here. This is exactly what they were aiming for. For themselves, and 17 properties each.
@Elizaj-jay
Activist or a person who is actually aware of the corruption!
@Octamed
Regardless of anything, it should NEVER be possible for any government to make FIFTY YEAR contracts. We could be living on Titan by 2070. Even sci-fi movies are reluctant to set it so far in the future, it’s insane.
@jrnqproductions9939
This IS something we all need to get mad about. Our politicians LITERALLY need us to stand up, cos god knows they won’t!
@Peace.Please144
Don’t worry, word is money did change hands in brown paper bags. Several Politicians seen smiling.
@johnrogers5825
Why we don’t have people with business acumen negotiating deals rather than incompetent politicians who are sycophants to corporations is beyond me.
@grahamsengineering.2532
We need to down Tools, suspend all services to government departments for a few months, no power, water, sewerage, telecommunications and internet.
@griddark
Political corruption needs to be made illegal and it’s definition changed to be anything against the best interest of everyday australians.
@niceworkabc
It’s not “the government” – a faceless entity … it is the POLITICIANS – actual people that are doing this.
@Margarinethebutterlover
I have never felt so much like a human battery, working to fund government and the civil service and big bloated corps and cronies. No acknowledgement of the 35 years of paying tax in this country, I feel I have no stake in the country, the land, the minerals, the energy. Overseas energy corps and new immigrants have a greater stake in the way of subsidies , incentives and welfare. The Government seems hell bent on spending our tax dollars and “commonwealth” on everyone but the citizens who provide the income. Make The Matrix fiction again.
@protectusplease9833
Australian’s got the government they voted for unfortunately, the last 3yrs should of told them that. I was hoping voters would punish Labor at the 25 election for the lies they told ie. stop gas & oil exploration, protect whistleblowers, stop deforestation of old forests which endangered species inhabited.
@mjrocketsurgeon
Next time you head to Parliament, you should take Albo a Bunnies Jersey with Santos, Woodside, Impex and all the other Gas Bludgers plastered all over it in massive letters, so that it’s clear who he works for…….
@mikerenolds8091
Just an idea, you and Topher Field should do joint regular pods, I think it would be a hit
@mark4aston
Thanks for your fantastic insights into the systemic problems of our Major Parties. They were a big part of why I nominated for the seat of ASTON in the 2025 federal election as an independant. Keep up the GREAT work!!
@bobbiehepburn8851
It is way past pitchfork time… I HATE our corrupt government.
@vivaelpepe4878
Until we become truly independent we will be treated as the colony that we are.
@KjamLXX8
The politician(s) that signed off on this need to be held accountable. This is not in the country’s best interest.
@jonfoxtrot5135
These deals and countless others like it are clear illustration that the major parties have zero interest in the future of Australia.
@actualfacts1055
Woodside’s North West Shelf gas project has paid over 40 billion dollars in royalties and excise, you didn’t mention that mate
@tbone5654
So if Woodside is getting such a great deal, why is the share price down 65% from it’s all time high? Most Australian’s have Woodside in their Super, so this stock price decline hits everybody.
@MorganCox-c8y
People dont seem to realise, all the resources the government gives away for free, that is extra taxes we have to pay.
@laowai2000
And here’s the reason PAYE taxpayers are likely paying over 35% tax when you include incremental PAYE salary tax, then afterwards another slap with 10% GST.
@peti-sj8un
Mate thankyou for the intel needed to know its worrying to find out all this information that is not told to all Australians.
