A secret service agent was wounded during an assassination attempt by a male shooter today(above). The gunman didn’t get near the President or the room packed full of reporters at a dinner in the White House.
President Trump said the agent was wearing the latest quality bulletproof vest which saved him from what he said was a high powered weapon fired at close range as the shooter raced past security.
The agent and the gunman have been taken to a local hospital for assessment.
“I thought the security agents were very impressive, they had their guns drawn right away,” President Trump said.
“They did a fantastic job.”
The assailant, armed with a shotgun and handgun raced past security agents firing a shot but did not get to the ball room where the President was hosting a media dinner.
“The building is not a very secure facility which is why we are building a new ball room,” he said.
“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement.
“They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again,” President DONALD J. TRUMP
